In another uniquely programmed event, Ars Musica Chicago presents ON A WING AND A PRAYER - Soaring Renaissance Choral Music. This event showcases an evening of Renaissance "bird-themed" choral music. Under the direction of noted conductor Stephen Blackwelder, the Ars Musica Singers will perform over a dozen English, French and Italian works featuring William Byrd's celebrated Mass for 4 Voices, and Clement Janequin's colorful and virtuosic Le chant des oyseaux. Additional selections of sacred and secular works by Byrd will be interspersed by motets and madrigals of Palestrina, Gibbons, Weelkes, Lassus and Juan del Encina.
