"Music for a while shall all your cares beguile"

The Chicago Early Music Consort concludes its 2006-2007 season with "Music for a While: English Song from Dowland to Purcell".

The greatest songwriters of 17th century England are featured on this concert: from the early-century lute songs of John Dowland and Alfonso Ferrabosco II, to the mid-century cavalier songs of John Wilson and Henry Lawes, to the late-century gems of the great Henry Purcell.  Featured songs include Dowland's "Go, nightly cares" from A Pilgrimes Solace [1612], Charles Coleman's "Wake my Adonis" from Select Ayres and Dialogues [1659], and Purcell's "Music for a While" from Oedipus [1692].

The members of the Chicago Early Music Consort are:

Stephanie Sheffield, soprano
Gary Berkenstock, recorders
Joel Spears, lute and theorbo
Phillip Serna, viola da gamba

Date: Sunday, May 20, 4:00 p.m.
Location: Glenview Community Church, 1000 Elm St. (corner of Glenview Rd. and Elm), Glenview, IL

A freewill offering will be taken.
