Chicago Early Music Consort - Music for a While

"Music for a while shall all your cares beguile" The Chicago Early Music Consort concludes its 2006-2007 season with "Music for a While: English Song from Dowland to Purcell". The greatest songwriters of 17th century England are featured on this concert: from the early-century lute songs of John Dowland and Alfonso Ferrabosco II, to the mid-century cavalier songs of John Wilson and Henry Lawes, to the late-century gems of the great Henry Purcell. Featured songs include Dowland's "Go, nightly cares" from A Pilgrimes Solace [1612], Charles Coleman's "Wake my Adonis" from Select Ayres and Dialogues [1659], and Purcell's "Music for a While" from Oedipus [1692].
