Early Music at the Byron Colby Barn presents Robin Huw Bowen Welsh Triple Harp Sunday, April 29, 4pm Robin Huw Bowen’s influence on the worlds of Welsh folk music and harping has been far-reaching. Of the few harpists worldwide who can play the triple harp, he is the foremost professional now specializing solely in this particular field. He is recognized internationally as the leading exponent of the Welsh national instrument and ranks among the most important figures that Welsh traditional music has produced. At the Machynlleth Festival 2000 Robin was awarded the Glyndwr Award for “an outstanding contribution to the arts in Wales.” In 2002 Robin received the Welsh equivalent of an Oscar, the BAFTA Cymru designation for best original music, for his music for the film Eldra, about Welsh Gypsies. All concerts are on Sundays and cost $15 per ticket. Children under 16 are free. A subscription to the whole series of six concerts is $72, a savings of $18. As always at the Barn, you may BYOB. At the intersection with Route 45, turn left (south). Turn right at the next light, which is Jones Point Road. The Barn and parking will be on your left.
