Auditions for Singers We are happy to announce a collaborative event to host vocal auditions for Chicago-area singers in the field of early music. This is an opportunity for singers to be heard by several directors at the same audition. May 26, 7:30-10:00 pm University of Illinois at Chicago Education, Performing Arts, and Social Work Building (EPASW) 1040 W. Harrison St. (corner of Morgan and Harrison) Room L060, the "Recital Hall" Due to construction, enter the building at the Theater Entrance at 1044 W. Harrison. Follow the posted signs to the Recital Hall. The following directors plan to attend: Andrew Lewis (Bella Voce) Bruce Tammen (Chicago Chorale) Ellen Hargis (The Newberry Consort) David Douglass (The Newberry Consort) Matthew Dean (Schola Antiqua of Chicago, also representing James Kallembach (University of Chicago) Please prepare 2-3 selections in different languages, including one piece of Renaissance polyphony. For Bella Voce, please prepare the the first two pages of the attached Gesualdo excerpt. http://earlymusichicago.org/documents/EarlyMusicSingersAuditionBellaVoce May2010.pdf Sight-reading exercises will be provided, and an accompanist will be available to play piano for you. Please bring multiple copies of your resumé, as materials will not be shared after the auditions.
