Chicago's own Phillip Serna (member of the Chicago Early Music Consort and Spirit of Gambo, director of the Viols in Our Schools project, and very active viola da gamba and double bass performer) has won the Early Music America 2010 Early Music Outreach Award, "which honors ensembles or individual artists for excellence in early music outreach and/or educational projects for children or adults."
