The 2008 Grammy Award nominations have been announced, and Chicago-area early musicians and Newberry Consort members Ellen Hargis and David Douglass are performers in one of the nominated productions. Specifically, in the Best Opera Recording category, one of five nominated recordings is: Lully: Thésée Paul O´Dette & Stephen Stubbs, conductors; Howard Crook, Ellen Hargis, Laura Pudwell & Harry Van Der Kamp; Renate Wolter-Seevers, producer (Boston Early Music Festival Chorus; Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra) In Thésée, Ellen Hargis sings the leading role of Aegle, and David Douglass leads the second violins. This is the third year in a row where Ellen Hargis is a cast member of a Grammy Award nominated opera production. Congratulations, Ellen and David!
