I'm writing to invite you to come hear "The Flute's Pleasure-garden" at Butler Winery on Sunday the 26th of April at 3 PM.  This program is drawn from "Der Fluyten Lust-hof" [The Flute's Pleasure-garden], the magnum opus of seventeenth century blind carillon and recorder player Jacob van Eyck (ca. 1589-1657).  van Eyck was city and Dom carillonneur and keeper of the carillons in Utrecht; he received an additional stipend from the city to play his "little flute" (aka recorder) for townspeople as they promenaded in the park beside the St. Janskerk.  He became famous throughout Europe for his profound knowledge of bell acoustics as well as his carillon and recorder playing.  The terrace at Butler Winery seems to me to have an ideal ambiance for this music.  The program is open to the public and free of charge.

To get to Butler Winery, go East on Tenth Street (IN 45) past New Unionville (4.1 miles E of the Bypass) and continue another 2.5 miles (if you get to Unionville you've gone too far) to Tunnel Road (turn left).  In .5 mile, again on your left, you'll come to E. Robinson Road.  The winery is .5 mile, on the left.  For a map, see http://www.butlerwinery.com/map.html

I hope to see you there!
