I recently found my old alto recorder that had been hidden away in a drawer for several years.  I purchased it in a music store back in 1971 and if memory serves me right, I paid about $18 for it, but it could have been more.  It is made of maple and is stamped "Made in Germany".  No brand markings, though.  First questions, what brands were made in Germany back at that time?

It has a slightly richer sound than my new Zen On plastic recorder, especially in the lower range.  From midrange up through high they sound very similar.

My second question, apparently the corks have shrunk over the years and the parts fit very loosely.  Do you know how I can tighten it up?
