Ars Antigua is pleased to announce a set of three educational initiatives held in collaboration with Midwest Young Artists. These initiatives are: 1) The Ars Antigua-Midwest Young Artists Early Music Competition sponsored by Walgreens. The winners will perform on April 29 on the first concert of the 2005 Bach Week festival; 2) a series of master classes and lecture-demonstrations by Ars Antigua musicians for K-12 music students. There will be two presentations during our inaugural season-on Nov 13, 2004 Tafelmusik violinist Patricia Ahern will give a masterclass on baroque string playing and on March 12 Liam Byrne, Joelle Morton and Erica Rubis will present "An Introduction to the Viola da Gamba". Both presentations will take place at Midwest Young Artists 878 Lyster Road Highwood, IL; and 3) The Ars Antigua-Midwest Young Artists Baroque Summer Academy for high school students beginning the summer of 2005. For more information about these projects please contact Jerry Fuller at Jerry.Fuller@earlybass.com. For more information about Midwest Young Artists, please visit www.MYA.org.
