Chicago-area recorder player and young early musician Laura Osterlund http://earlymusichicago.org/musicians_winds.htm#Laura%20Ost erlund is one of three co-recipients of an EMA summer early music workshop scholarship for 2005. Quoting from the web page http://www.earlymusic.org/Content/PressReleases/20050601-Awards2005.htm "Early Music America is also presenting scholarships to three outstanding students so that they can attend summer early music workshops and receive advanced training in the field of early music. This year’s winners are fortepianist Dalyn Cook, from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, who will attend Cornell University’s Center for 18 th-Century Music summer fortepiano workshop; violinist Yura Nakajima, from the University of North Texas, who will attend the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute; and recorder player Laura Osterlund, a high school student from Oak Park, IL who will attend the Amherst Early Music workshop." Laura also won the ARS President's Scholarship earlier in the year. She plans to use the scholarship money to help fund her attendance at the Amherst Early Music Festival in Bennington, Vermont this summer. Congratulations on receiving this second honor, Laura!
