Led by passionate Baroque Violinist Martin Davids, this ensemble of Chicago's finest period instrument musicians will guide you with their inspired playing through a grand tour of Baroque England, France, Germany, and Italy. Hear the works of your favorite Baroque composers in a fresh, new light and be introduced to treasures by those composers who are less familiar to us. Let music transport you back to the Europe of 1600-1750. In France you'll hear sweet melodies and graceful ornaments in the music of Leclair and Corrette. The virtuosity of the violin reigns supreme with the passionate Italians, Vivaldi and Tessarini. In Germany, be swept away by a suite of ballet music by Schmeltzer. Finally, Englishmen Purcell, Brade and Simpson will leave you dancing! Join the tour and be part of the inaugural concerts of the Callipygian Players.
