 The Callipygian Players
Return with Jewish Baroque

CHICAGO -- Discover the musical gems of Salamone Rossi and other composers influenced by this Jewish Baroque master.  Led by passionate Baroque Violinist Martin Davids, this ensemble of Chicago's finest period instrument musicians delighted audiences last Spring with their debut concerts.  You won't want to miss their return!

Violinist and composer Salamone Rossi lived in the Venice of the late 16th/early 17th century.  Rossi's outstanding talents exempted him from wearing the Star of David on his clothing, normally required of all Jews in a hostile Venice.  Come and hear the remarkable music of Rossi, his teacher Monteverdi, and others!  The Callipygian Players will be joined by Chicago favorite, harpsichordist David Schrader.  Also, outstanding vocalists will perform some of Rossi's little heard sacred songs in Hebrew.  A concert of not only sparkling music but fascinating historic information.  Uncover the Jewels of Jewish Baroque music with the Callipygian Players.  Their artistry and commitment to live performance will dazzle you.
