Early Music Academy


Midwest Young Artists
Midwest Young Artists Early Music Workshop The Early Music Academy is a select chamber orchestra dedicated to the performance of music composed before 1800.  Often the members of this group perform on period instruments, and once yearly the Early Music Academy performs with a world class soloist.  The Midwest Young Artists' Early Music Ensemble provides an opportunity for students to learn and perform early music repertoire.  MYA's Walgreens National Concerto Competition includes an Early Music component, and winners of that competition have the opportunity to perform in concert with Ars Antigua.

Rachel Barton Pine, Recorder Player, and Harpsichordist The only independent community music school in Illinois, and serving students of all ages and levels of interest, the Music Institute of Chicago offers comprehensive private instruction as well as group classes and ensembles for all instruments, piano, and voice.  MIC's Early Music Division offers instruction in Baroque violin, harpsichord, organ, recorder, viola da gamba, lute, natural trumpet, and other early instruments, and hosts intermediate and advanced chamber music groups for adults playing recorder and viola da gamba.
